I was born in Los Angeles though I have felt more at home in Norcal for most of my life. I have been living in Santa Cruz since 2018 and absolutely love it here. Between the mountains and the ocean, it is hard to imagine living anywhere else. I consider myself to be socially conscious and active politically but at the same time I try to draw a balance between being well informed and maintaining focus on what I can change within my own sphere of influence. It can be so easy to become quickly overwhelmed these days with everything that is happening.
I enjoy being social and going to parties, especially if there's dancing involved. I don't do very well with small talk though, and usually tend to lean toward some depth in my conversations, which sometimes might be a little off-putting to certain personality types.
I am a bodyworker of mixed modalities with a successful private practice and I really love my job. I work mostly with patients experiencing chronic pain or rehabbing injuries and being an integral part of my patients healing processes gives me a deep sense of purpose and connection to something bigger than myself. I have been seeing some of my clients for 25+ years and they are all very dear to me.
I also enjoy being creative in lots of different ways from writing to sculpting/painting to repurposing found items into art or useful objects. I love to go see art and live music. I love cooking and fine dining too.. a bit of a foodie but I hate that word. Cooking to me is such a complete art form in that it is the only one that involves all 5 senses. In addition, there is a sort of Eastern philosophy demonstrated in the fleeting impermanence of ones creation.
